Nicholas Magni (Nicolaus Magni de Iawor, Mikuláš Magni z Jawora, Nikolaus Groß von Jauer, born c. 1335, died 22 March 1435) was a late medieval theologian, professor at Heidelberg University. Born in Jawor, Silesia, he studied in Vienna (1377) and Prague under Matthew of Krakow (from 1378, baccalaureus 1392, magister artium 1395), from 1397 rector of Prague University. In 1402, he went to Heidelberg, where he was likewise made rector in 1406. He also represented the university at the Council of Constance 1414-1418, where he argued for a reform of the Church and the clergy. His 1405 TractaJohn Charles Haines (May 26 1818 in New York - July 4 1896; buried in Rosehill Cemetery) served as mayor of Chicago, Illinois (1858-1860) for the Democratic Party. Haines arrived in Chicago on May 26 1835 and took on work as a clerk for George W. Merrill. krakow guide book 1846 he formed a partnership with Jared Gage and acquired several flour mills. Haines worked to organize the Chicago waterwork beginning in 1854. He served two sequential terms as mayor of Chicago.
